In 2009, Money Magazine ranked jobs in public relations and advertising among the top fifty best jobs in the United States.The rapidly growing field of advertising begins for many who major in advertising while in college. While there is no formal ranking system for advertising programs, the Advertising Educational Foundation recognizes the best work coming out of universities worldwide at the Clio Awards.


Miami Ad School


In 2009, the Miami Ad School was honored with five Clio awards for work produced by the school's students. 2009 is not the only year the school has been honored. Miami Ad School has received at least one Clio award a year since their inception in 2000. Clio honored student campaigns for such companies as Ziploc, Tide and World Vision. The Miami Ad School offers a wide range of specialized programs including art direction, copy writing, digital graphic design and digital photography and video. Miami Ad School also offers a masters degree in both art direction and copy writing. Miami sets itself apart by focusing not only on the creation of ads, but a deeper study of pop culture and society as well.

Academy of Art University


Since 2000, the Academy of Art University has been honored with several Clio awards for student campaigns for companies such as Frito Lay, Mighty Leaf Tea and Louisvile Slugger. Located in San Francisco, the Academy offers both a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Advertising and a Master of Fine Arts in Advertising. The advertising programs stress strategic communication, visual communication, verbal communication, conceptual thinking and professional readiness. Graduates from the Academy of Art University have gone on to work for prestigious advertising firms such as Crispin Porter + Bogusky and McCann-Erickson.

School of Visual Arts


Located in New York, the School of Visual Arts has been honored with numerous Clio awards, including four in 2009 alone. Students at the School of Visual Arts have had their work solicited by companies including Dunkin' Donuts, Victoria's Secret and Nike. The distinguished faculty include William Oberlander, the executive vice president of McCann Erickson. Equally impressive is the school's list of alumni, including Gail Anderson, the current creative director for SpotCo. The school offers a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Advertising.
