Yamaha electronic pianos can be connected to your computer in just a few steps.
Yamaha makes a number of different electronic pianos that offer both portability and flexibility, but also the ability to interact with your computer to record tunes you create on the piano to play back later on. Connecting your electronic piano to your computer is a fairly simple process, and involves having the right cable and then installing the music recording software of your choice on your computer to work along with the keyboard and capture your masterpiece.
Instructions
1. Download the driver for your piano onto your computer. The driver for your Yamaha keyboard should have come on a disc included with your keyboard. If you never received or no longer have the disc, drivers can be downloaded from Yamaha's website by performing a search on the company's website for the model number for your specific keyboard.
2. Power your keyboard off, and then connect one end of your USB cable to your piano. The type of cable you use will depend on your keyboard. Most keyboards will use a traditional A to B USB cable, while some models may require a midi to USB adapter to connect. If you're unsure what cable you need, consult your piano's manual or Yamaha's website.
3. The long rectangular end of the cable connects to your computer.
Connect the other end of the USB cable to an available USB port of your computer.
4. Turn on the power to your keyboard and open the driver folder you downloaded or put on your computer from your accessory CD. An installation screen will appear. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the drivers from your piano onto your computer.
5. Open the music software you plan on using with your keyboard, and start using your piano with your computer.
