Expand your local business with a map link on Google Maps.
With the emergence of the Internet, exposing your business over cyberspace can be a good marketing tool, a way to advertise your business to the entire world. Google Maps offers small, medium and large businesses the opportunity to list their business on their maps. Whenever a customer or client uses Google search tool to find a particular product or service, a Google map will appear in the search results, which includes a map link with your business information pinpointed directly on the map.
Instructions
1. Visit the "Google Accounts" website to create a new account. You will need to create a new email address and enter in a password, location and birth date. Click the "I Accept. Create My Account" button to finalize your new account.
2. Go to the "Google Maps" home page. Click on the "Put Your Business on Google Maps" link located on the left hand side of the page. If you haven't logged in using your new account, you will need to do so before being able to obtain a map link to your business.
3. Click on the "List Your Business" button once you have successfully logged in.
4. Select the country of your business in the drop down menu and enter a valid 10-digit business phone number. Press "Find Business Information" to continue.
5. Fill out the basic information about your business. The information required includes the business name, email address, phone number, website, operating hours, payment options and more. You can even upload photographs and videos of your storefront or services that you provide. Click "Submit" after you are complete with the form.
6. Wait two to three weeks for a validation post card in the mail. The validation postcard will need to be signed and mailed back in order to confirm the existence of your business at the location specified in your form. The postcard will be mailed to the location you listed on the form in the previous page. Click "Finish" to have the post card sent to you.
7. Wait for a confirmation email with a map link to your business. Google will provide you with instructions on maximize your exposure using your map link and embed the map link within your own website, if applicable. For an additional fee, Google can increase your exposure through their online search engine.
