1. The first step is to go on the internet and do an internet search for grants for women and for organizations that support women. Many organizations that support women have their own grants. To start try the American Association of University Women (http://www.aauw.rog/education/fga) they tend to give grants for women seeking education, wanting to conduct research, and wanting to change careers. Next consider the Business and Professional Women Foundation (http://www.bpwusa.org) which gives grants typical for women to advance their careers or businesses. The Michigan State website (www.lib.msu.edu/harris23/grants/3women.htm)has a list of many grant opportunities.
2. Next check out online publications that advertise multiple grants and offer cross references so that you can quickly locate the right grant for you. 3. Now go to the library and check the catalog for books There are many that have excellent cross references to make your search quick and effective. These include The Big Book of Opportunities for Women, Directory of Womens' Funds, Foundation Grants to Individuals, Foundation Center Directory, Directory of Corporate Diving, Women Information Directory, and Philanthropic Digest.
4. Now contact your local business organizations and city office for grants. Many offer grants to people who ask and have a great business plan or plan for education.
