If you need to ship a motorcycle motor then you should choose your company carefully.
Sometimes you need to ship a motorcycle motor. It could be that you're selling the motor, or it needs to be repaired, but whatever the reason you're going to need to take some major precautions when you ship the motor. You'll need to find a shipping service, get the proper packaging materials and pack it up nice and snug so that there won't be any problem in transit.
Instructions
1. Locate a company that will ship a motorcycle motor. Transit Systems is one option for larger items, but other commercial services like UPS and Federal Express might also accept your motor for shipping if it's clean, drained and properly packed up in a crate. Other services, like JC Motors, specialize in motorcycles, and might be a better bet for your motor shipping needs.
2. Pack up your motorcycle engine. Drain all fluids out of the engine and make sure that it isn't leaking. Pack an appropriately sized crate half full of plastic packaging material and then set the motor on top of the cushioning material. Place the motor in the crate, and then pack it full with material the rest of the way. Another option is to strap the motor down onto a pallet, and then place the pallet inside a crate packed with plastic cushioning. Ask the company you're shipping with what its procedures and requirements are to be sure that you're following the rules.
3. Hand the packaged motor off to the shipping service. Either deliver the package to a distribution center, or make arrangements for the company to come to your residence or place of business to get the motor. Once the motor has been taken by the service and you pay the fees, it should be on its way.
