You can earn money as an affiliate for other companies or by using ad networks.
Lots of companies are willing to pay people for helping them advertise online. Two of the most popular ways include affiliate marketing and ad networks. Affiliate marketing involves advertising a product or service and earning a commission for each sale, while ad networks involve placing text or image ads on your website to earn small amounts from page impressions and clicks from visitors.
Instructions
Affiliate Marketing
1. Choose an affiliate network and sign up for a free account. Some of the most popular affiliate networks include ClickBank, Amazon Associates and Commission Junction. These are sites completely dedicated to connecting businesses with independent affiliate marketers so sales can be made.
2. Choose a product or service to promote. Affiliate networks often include hundreds of products or services for affiliates to choose. You may have better luck choosing to promote something that interests you or something that you are very knowledgeable about already. For example, if you have auto mechanic experience, you may wish to advertise car parts from the Amazon Associates program.
3. Establish an advertising method. On the Internet, you can advertise products and services by building your own website, placing paid advertisements on ad networks, developing a social media campaign or even by sending out an email offer to an email list. Sticking with one advertising method is often easier than adopting several at once.
4. Focus on expanding your traffic, subscribers, leads or clickthrough rates. The more eyeballs you have on your advertisement with your personal affiliate link, the more likely you are to make a sale. Spend time creating content or reaching out to people online in your niche. A good advertising campaign takes time, and most affiliates don't start earning money right away.
5. Collect commissions from any sales. If you make a sale, your affiliate network account will show the commission you earned. Depending on the network you're with, you may receive payment by PayPal, by mailed check or by another method. If you are able to increase the amount of sales over time, many affiliate networks reward performance by increasing commission rates.
Ad Networks
6. Choose an ad network and sign up for a free account. The most popular ad network on the Internet at the time of publication is Google Adsense.
7. Fetch the code for the text or image ads to place on your website. When it comes to using ad networks, you usually need to own the website you place the ads on. Alternatively, some people who provide content for a site split ad income with the site owners.
8. Place the code to show in the header, sidebar, footer or main content of the site. The goal is to get visitors to click on the ads so you get paid.
9. Work on increasing traffic and page views to the site. You can do this by creating great content on a regular basis and ranking in Google for popular search terms.
10. Collect your earnings. It can take time to get paid with ad networks, since you'll often only earn a few cents to a couple of dollars per click. Your ad network will notify you when you've acquired enough clicks and earned enough money to get paid.
