Create A Free Band Website

Make a Free Band Website

One of the best ways to advertise something these days is with a website, and that is especially true of bands. There's no better way to introduce your band to the public, advertise your shows, and sell your music than to have an official band website where old fans and potential fans can visit to get a taste of your music. Up-and-coming artists often don't have the revenue source yet to launch an expensive Internet presence, but that doesn't mean they can't take advantage of the promotional possibilities the Internet provides. Learn how you can make a band website free and promote your band for free.

Instructions

1. Get a free web hosting service (see Resources below). Look for one that offers as much storage space as you can get. Your website is going to be about your band, which means you'll want to have pictures, music clips and maybe even video footage of performances available. This media takes up quite a bit of space. Try to get a web host that offers at least a gigabyte of storage space, and more if possible.

2. Design your website. Think about the categories you want to include. Make sure the front page of the website has a nice photograph of your band performing and displays the band logo in such a way that it is the first thing visitors see when they visit your website. Include an easy navigational menu on the front page, too, that gives visitors access to all the sections of your website.

3. Include sections on your website for a history of the band, short bios of all the band members, an online store where visitors can purchase music and T-shirts, and a listing of upcoming live performances.

4. Use the built-in web-design tools to create and upload your website. Most free web hosting services include a good set of web page development tools and a built-in file transfer protocol (FTP) for bringing files from your computer's hard drive to your free website storage space.

5. Offer free samples of your band's music, include plenty of photos of your band performing and throw in a video clip or two. A band website should include a variety of media to keep an audience interested and visiting again and again.
