Sponsorship sales presentations should engage audience members.
The goal of a sponsorship sales presentation is to get the audience to sponsor --- or donate money to --- a particular cause. When giving a presentation about a sponsorship opportunity it is important to employ some effective strategies if you want to successfully sell sponsorships. Presentations should be planned out in advance to allow you enough time to practice your strategic angle.
Personal Presence
The way you present yourself during your presentation can mean the difference between a successful sales pitch and one that flops. Your goal should be to speak at a moderate pace, clearly and concisely. Try to add emotion to your presentation to give the sale a personal touch. You should emit confidence, but not so much that it becomes overwhelming for the audience.
Nonverbal Communication Cues
It is not enough to simply present information to an audience. You must establish presenter's rapport with them through nonverbal communication cues, such as eye contact and appropriate gesturing and facial expressions. When you look people in the eye or give someone a smile you can captivate your audience's attention and engage them in the presentation. It is important, however, that you avoid distracting behaviors, such as a fidgety foot or a constant nose-scratch, which can distract audience members from the presentation.
Multimedia
Use multimedia, such as photographs, sound clips or short videos, to enhance your presentation. If you can provide your audience with something stimulating that makes them feel a personal connection to the cause, they will be more inclined to sign up as a sponsor. Think about sponsorships for orphans in third world countries, and how moving and powerful it is to see pictures of the orphans.
Know the Audience
Do research on your audience to find out what it is they are looking for, and how you can successfully offer it to them. Find out what types of things motivate sponsors (such as a return on investment) and incorporate that angle into your presentation to give it strength. If you believe your audience wants a lot of financial information before they sign on as sponsors, be ready to give them numbers and provide data from the prior year's annual report.
Dress Code
Pay attention to what you wear for your presentation, being mindful of color combinations. If you are presenting for a sports team sponsorship, incorporate the team's colors into your outfit to reflect spirit and pride. If the sponsorships you are selling do not have particular colors associated with them, come up with a professional outfit that is neutral.
