Replace An Epson Print Cartidge

Epson markets a Stylus line of printers for residential and small business use. These printers indicate low ink levels by flashing the red error light or, in some models, by placing a low ink message on the display panel. The flashing light is a warning that the ink cartridge will soon require replacement. The red error light will stay on when replacement of the ink cartridge or cartridges is required.

Instructions

1. Turn the printer on, then wait for it to be in standby mode.

2. Open the top cover.

3. Press the ink cartridge replacement button. The button is in the upper-left corner on the top of the printer.

4. Observe the error light. If the flash rate is the same as the power light, replacement is required for the black ink cartridge. If the flash rate is faster than the power light, replacement is required for the color ink cartridge. If the light remains on without flashing, replacement is required for both ink cartridges.

5. Grasp the tab, then lift the clamp for the ink cartridge that requires replacement. Lift the old cartridge out of the cradle, then set it aside for disposal.

6. Unwrap the new cartridge, then remove the yellow seal on the top.

7. Insert the new cartridge into the cradle. Note the tabs on the back of the cartridge; the tabs should rest on the hooks in the cradle. Press down on the ink cartridge, firmly but gently, until it clicks into place.

8. Repeat Steps 5 to 7 to replace the other ink cartridge if necessary.

9. Press the ink cartridge replacement button, then close the top cover. Wait 30 seconds until the power light is on and the error light goes out.
