Obtain A Visa From Trinidad Towards The Usa

Properly filing documents is crucial to successfully obtaining a U.S. visa.

All Trinidadian citizens who want to visit the U.S. need a non-immigrant visa to do so. The specific type of visa depends on the purpose of travel, but whether you apply for a business/tourist visa, a student visa, a crew member visa or an exchange visitor visa, certain requirements apply to all of them. Follow these steps to obtain a visa for travel to the U.S.

Instructions

1. Prepare all the necessary documents. This includes the DS-160 Electronic Visa Application (see Resources), your current passport and any previous passports containing American visas. It's also recommended you gather any documents showing you maintain strong ties to Trinidad. This may include letters from employers, bank statements or marriage certificates. Additionally, if you cannot upload a photo to the online visa application, you must obtain a passport-sized photo with a white background.

2. Pay the application fee at any branch of TT Post. The amount depends on the specific visa for which you are applying. Make sure you keep the receipt as proof of purchase.

3. Schedule an interview appointment online (see Resources). Note that for families who are applying, one appointment must be made for each individual family member.

4. Appear at the U.S. embassy at the scheduled time with the aforementioned paperwork, your TT Post receipts and $23 for pre-paid courier service to deliver your visa (as of November 2010). Expect to wait up to two hours, and note that fingerprints will be collected from applicants between 14 and 80 years of age.

5. Collect your visa, if approved, in the mail via courier service. Generally, the visa will be sent four to five business days after the interview.
