As with any measuring device, learning to calibrate your Rite Weight digital scale is an important step toward getting the most out of this equipment.
Instructions
1. Place the scale on a stable, level surface.
2. Turn on the scale by pressing the "On/Off" button, which is generally located on the upper right-hand side of most Rite Weight models. You should hear a beep, and the digital readout should show either a full screen of crossed-out zeros or a series of dashes.
3. Allow the scale to rest for at least 30 seconds with an empty scale surface. The number display may flip through a few digits during this time, especially if the weight is in serious need of calibration.
4. Press and hold the "Cal" button, which is usually located just below the "On/Off" button. You'll hear another beep.
5. Hold the "Cal" button until the readout displays "CAL."
6. Release the "Cal" button.
7. Place the default calibration weight on the scale. This weight should be the one that was included with your scale when you first purchased it.
8. Allow the weight to rest on the scale for a few seconds to stabilize the weight reading.
9. Press the "Cal" button again, holding the button down until the display reads "End."
10. Remove the weight.
11. Turn off the scale by pressing the "On/Off" button again.
12. Wait 30 seconds.
13. Turn the scale back on. It should now be properly calibrated and ready to use.
