Contact potential employers immediately.
When businesses are dissolving and companies need bailing out, finding a job can seem impossible. However, there are still businesses out there that need employees; it's just a matter of finding them. It's also important to get in a different frame of mind and come to the realization that you might not get a job you enjoy or are passionate about. When times are rough, being picky will prevent you from maintaining your lifestyle.
Instructions
1. Target businesses that are always in high demand. For example, regardless of economic turmoil, hospitals will still be running. Contact these businesses directly and find out if there are any job openings. Keep an open mind, because even if you're not a nurse, there might be clerical positions available.
2. Search job boards and career search engines online to find jobs. While they might not be local, you might find a job that is an hour's drive away. If the pay is decent, you might have no choice but to take it. Also consider searching for telecommuting positions. If you can find jobs that you can do at home, you can save gas money. Many work-at-home jobs don't require any special skills.
3. Read the local newspaper's classified section to find organizations and companies that are looking for workers. Maybe the newspaper is looking for drivers to deliver newspapers. It's also likely that local grocery stores or telemarketing companies need people.
4. Spread the word that you are looking for a job. Your friends or family might know of a place where you can work. The more people who know you are job searching, the more chances you have at finding a job.
