Change An Ink Cartridge Inside A Brother Printer

Every printer utilizes ink cartridges, and the more you use them, the more often you must change them. You can either buy a new ink cartridge, or you can take the empty cartridge to an office supply store and they will usually refill it for a discount. Replacing the ink cartridges in a Brother printer only takes a minute or two, and after printing a test sheet, you will be able to use your printer again.

Instructions

1. Open the lid to the printer. If you do not know what the ink cartridge looks like, look for a plastic rectangle that can fit in the palm of your hand. There will be two next to each other, one for colored ink and one for black ink. Depending on the ink that is out, you will need to change one of these or both.

2. Grasp the edge of the cartridge between your thumb and index finger and gently tug it out toward you until the cartridge falls free.

3. Find the model number on the ink cartridge if you do not know what type of ink you need yet. You will also need to know the type of Brother printer model you own in order to find the correct ink. Go to an office supply store and tell them the type of Brother printer you own, as well as the cartridge model number. Buy a new cartridge or have your cartridge refilled.

4. Open the lid to the printer again and insert the Brother printer cartridge into the same place it was before with the metal sensor facing inward. Make sure you remove the protective tape from the sensor before you place it into the cartridge space.

5. Close the lid to the printer, and make sure it resets itself. If it doesn't, connect the computer to the printer and click "print" for a test document.
