Get Google Licensed

Google certification exams provide two hours to answer roughly 100 questions each.


Google AdWords is an advertising program utilized by tens of thousands of websites to earn ad revenue. Released in 2000, the program works by compensating participating websites through a pay-per-click (PPC) model. Advertisers, too, utilize AdWords to target potential customers, and many opt to hire or contract consultants who specialize in creating and managing successful AdWords campaigns. Alongside, Google certification allows a consultant to demonstrate and be recognized for his professional capabilities with the AdWords program.


Instructions


1. Choose either individual or company certification. Company certification requires an organization to have at least one employee previously certified as an individual, in addition to meeting "spend" management requirements. As of 2010, this means having managed at least $10,000 in advertising programs over 90 days within a single "My Client Center" (MCC) account.


2. Study for all appropriate certification exams. Study materials are located in the AdWords Certification Program Learning Center (see Resources for a link).


3. Join the Google Certification Program by opening an account, via the main certification website. If you wish to link an existing individual account to a company certified-partner account, you must request an invitation from an authorized member of the company.


4. Obtain your candidate ID and register for exams. The candidate ID is located within your individual or company certified-partners account, via the "My Exams" tab. You may begin taking exams once registration is completed. Exam registration and administration occur through a third-party, Internet Testing Systems LLC, as of December 2010 (see Resources for a link).


5. Pass two or more required exams. Beyond the Advertising Fundamentals exam, individuals must pass at least one additional advanced exam for individual certification. Employees participating in a company certification must pass at least two advanced exams.


6. Receive certification and optionally update your Google-provided individual or company profile page to reflect your achievement.
