Zip drives are handy in situations where both the drive and media must be portable.
Portable, cross-platform compatible Iomega Zip drives are small enough to carry in a laptop bag or briefcase. Iomega Zip 100 drive software must be installed following a specific procedure in order to work correctly. Follow the Iomega recommended procedures to install the latest Iomega Zip 100 software so the drive will work in your Windows XP computer.
Instructions
1. Download the Iomega software from the Iomega website (see the link in Resources).
2. Navigate to the downloaded software file and double-click on the file. Click the "Run" button if prompted and then click "Next" in the window that appears. Read the license agreement and click the "Yes" button if you accept the license agreement.
3. Click the "Next" button to accept the default installation directory. Click the "Close" button once the software installation has completed. Click the "OK" button to shut down the computer.
4. Plug the Iomega power supply adapter into the Iomega Zip drive. Plug the USB cable into the Iomega Zip drive. Plug the other end of the USB cable into an available port on the Windows XP computer. Insert a Zip 100 disk into the Iomega Zip drive. Boot up the computer.
5. Double-click on the "My Computer" icon located on the Windows XP desktop and verify that the Iomega Zip drive is visible in the window that appears.
