Fundraiser Suggestions For Nonprofit Organizations

Money

Funding can be a challenge for many organizations, but nonprofits have special concerns because the activities they are engaged in are designed to benefit society. When nonprofits lack funding, their reach and ability to help others can be severely limited. Planning fundraisers can help to ensure that financing for projects and programs is adequate so that the work of making a difference can continue.

Create Brochures

Before any serious fund raising undertaking can begin for a nonprofit organization, the organization needs to come up with something to show donors about what they are doing. Brochures are a great way to talk about your nonprofit organization, its goals and its funding issues. People will be more likely to donate to your cause if they have something in writing that helps them understand where their money is going.

Sales

Sales are a great way to raise money for nonprofit organizations. Sales can take place on-site or as a door-to-door project. Rummage sales, car washes and bake sales are great options for on-site fundraisers. Selling boxes of cookies, candy, or wrapping paper make great door-to-door fundraisers. Planning your sales around holidays may help your profits to increase since people are looking for gifts and generally have money to spend on those items.

Shows

Shows are a great way to generate funds for nonprofit organizations. If people in your organization have gifts for singing, dancing, playing instruments, acting or reading poetry, putting on a show may be just what the doctor ordered. If your organization does not have an appropriate space, you will need to find a venue willing to donate space for your show. You can charge admission and for refreshments.

Parties

Parties benefiting your nonprofit organization can be another great option for raising funds. Hosting a formal benefit at a fancy restaurant or hotel may warrant charging $100 to $200 per ticket. Less formal parties, such as holiday parties or themed dance parties can also be hosted. These informal gatherings might prompt smaller donations but attract a larger crowd. People like to feel like they are helping others while they are having fun.

Membership

Membership can be a good way to boost funding for a nonprofit organization. Offer different levels of membership and perks such as a quarterly newsletter and discounts to conferences. You will need to print membership forms outlining what your organization is about, what the funding is for and the various levels of membership or subscription.
