Edit your website coding to get it indexed on Bing.
No matter how many bells and whistles your website has, you won't get many visitors to it if you don't market it to the public in the right way. One way to spread the word about your website is by indexing it on major search engines such as Google, Yahoo!, AOL, Ask and Bing. This gives users a chance to more easily find your site. There are certain steps you can take to get your website added to Microsoft-owned Bing's URL database.
Instructions
1. Edit your website so that all HTML coding is clean and ready to go. This includes ensuring that all paired tags are closed, fixing any broken links that appear on your site, configuring your robots.txt file to allow Bing's web crawler to crawl your site, and using correct redirect coding if you decide to move a certain page within your website.
2. Bing recommends choosing a URL that is "simple and static." For example, www.mypage.com/home is easier for the search engine to index compared with a long URL that might include many numbers and punctuation marks. Also, once you choose a URL, stick with it. Constantly changing your URL address can affect where your website appears in Bing's indexes.
3. Register your website with the Bing Webmaster Tools archive, located at www.bing.com/toolbox/webmaster. To register your site, you will need to sign for a Windows LiveID account.
4. Log on to the Bing website submission page at www.bing.com/toolbox/submiturl.
5. Enter your site's web address in the URL box at the top of the page. Beneath this box, type the letters and numbers provided in the anti-spam box. Click the "Submit" button.
6. Wait for Bing to schedule a website crawler to crawl your submitted page. Once your page is crawled and accepted, it will be indexed and ranked.
