Many organizations use projectors to conduct meetings.
Presentations are essential to meetings for all types of businesses and organizations. Many businesses have invested in LCD projectors for their conference rooms, allowing their employees the convenience of using their laptop computers to run the on-screen presentations.
Instructions
1. This is a DVI type connection.
Connect the monitor cord to your laptop computer. The monitor port on most laptops is a 15-pinhole port known as a VGA; it is slightly wider on one side than the other. If this port does not match up to the connector on your projector cable, it is likely a DVI (see photo); you may need an adapter to convert the monitor's DVI connector to a VGA port (this can be found at any electronics store). Line up the connector on the cable to the one on your computer to connect. Make sure the monitor cable is plugged into the monitor port on the projector.
2. Power on the projector. Most projectors need a few seconds to get started. You will hear the fan start, and a few seconds to a minute later, you should see something appear on the projector screen.
3. Function keys are located on the top row on most keyboards.
Enable your laptop to display the screen on the projector. Many laptops have a blue shortcut on the function buttons that looks like two monitors. To activate the shortcut you will need to hold down the "Fn" key and press the monitor shortcut button at the same time. For example, on Lenovo ThinkPads, you would hold down "Fn" and "F7" together. Reference your laptop user guide for more specific information on monitor settings.
4. Select the display option that states it will show the same screen on your laptop monitor and the projector.
5. Right click anywhere on your desktop, select "Properties" and then select the "Settings" tab. You will see the two screens displayed. If you need to adjust the settings of either the laptop screen or the projector screen, you can make the changes here.
6. Control the presentation through your laptop. All of the actions you take on your laptop will now be displayed on the projector.
