Ribbons are often used to support a cause. A yellow ribbon supports soldiers, while a pink ribbon is used for breast cancer awareness. Making magnets with ribbons, and perhaps a few words of support, is a simple way to show what causes matter to you. Make small magnets for your refrigerator or create a large magnet to decorate your car. Car magnets are especially nice, as, unlike bumper stickers, they are easy to remove.
Instructions
1. Design your ribbon using a computer design program or free template (see Resources), or draw your ribbon by hand and scan it into your computer. Color it in as desired and add any words or other decorative elements you wish.
2. Set your printer option to either high-quality or photo paper, depending on your printer type. Place a single sheet of printable magnetic paper in the paper tray.
3. Print out your ribbon on the magnetic paper. Allow the ink to dry for five minutes before touching it to avoid smearing the ink.
4. Peel the backing from a sheet of clear contact paper. Smooth the contact paper over the front of the magnetic sheet, using the back of a spoon to eliminate air bubbles.
5. Cut out your magnet with a pair of sharp scissors or a utility knife. Smooth the edges with the back of a spoon to ensure that the contact paper is secure.
