Business travelers have a variety of tools to make work and travel easier. One of those tools is a corporate credit card. Companies provide these for employees to avoid the use of personal credit. It is also an excellent way to manage expenses. When you charge something on a corporate credit card, the bill typically goes directly to the company's billing department.
Instructions
1. Know the company policy. Any company that has gone through the process of supplying its employees with credit cards has also issued a policy for using the card. The policies surrounding cards are as varied as their uses. It is the duty of the employee to understand the policy and ask questions about anything that is not clear.
2. Limit personal use on a company credit card even if the company's policies are lenient toward personal use. Provide a check or money order for personal items with reconciliation records.
3. Verify that the receipt itemizes charges. If it only shows the total amount, ask for a more detailed receipt.
4. Indicate the names of the parties involved with the purchase on the back of the receipt or when using the company's credit card reconciliation software. Include the names of other employees and clients that you paid for. This helps explain larger than normal expenses.
