Kinds Of Hair Straightener Heating units

Hair stylist uses a flat iron and blow dryer,

There are so many brands and types of flat irons on the market, it can be tough to know which one to buy. Getting the cheapest one is probably not going to give you the results you want, but the most expensive one isn't necessarily the best either.

Determining how much heat your hair needs will help guide your decision. Thick, coarse hair requires the most heat while those with thin, brittle hair should use a cooler iron to avoid damaging their hair. For most hair types, 370 degrees is a good median temperature.

Integrated Ceramic Heating System

Known as ICHS, this involves placing a tungsten heating element between layers of ceramic plates. The advantage with this system is that the loss of heat is minimal while using it, so you don't have to wait after smoothing one section of hair for the iron to heat up again before going to the next section of hair.

PTFC Heaters

PTFC, or positive temperature frequency control, heaters consist of a quality heating element using far-infrared heat that deeply and safely penetrates the hair cuticle to get smooth, sleek hair without damaging it. This heating process is similar to that of the sun, but without the dangerous ultraviolet rays.

Wattage

The wattage of a flat iron is important, regardless of the heating system. The higher the wattage, the better it will keep its set temperature and the faster it will reheat. Midrange and higher end models should have a 40- to 60-watt heating element.
