Be A Valued Worker

make yourself a valued and necessary employee.

Instructions

be the most valued employee at your place of employment

1. No ones job is secure as long as there other people out there who would like to take it from you. So in order to keep your job you should make all efforts to become a valued employee to your employer. Becoming a valued employee is not difficult if you do the job you were hired to do and make every effort to make that job more than what it was first meant to be.

2. Completing assignments on or before their due date makes employers happy, you are looked at as a productive member of their team. You should make sure to always double check everything you do because a timely completed assignment is only as good as the correct information it provides. Learn what your boss wants from you and make sure you handle yourself in a professional manner while completing all tasks.

3. Stay organized, if your boss asks you for something you need to know exactly where it is so you can produce it immediately. Volunteer to reorganize files or shelves of products. Once your boss sees that you are organized they will give you more leeway to expand your position.

4. Ask if there is anything else you can help your boss with, if you see your boss struggling with something. Make sure first though that you are capable of handling what you suggest, you never want to make an offer to help only to fall short of delivering. Start by offering to help with small things that are a nuisance to your boss. Once you gain their trust you can offer to help with more complex assignments. It is always good to try and learn everything you can about the business you are working in so you sound knowledgeable when speaking to your boss.

5. Once you are comfortable with the job you were hired to do and taking on small additional assignments branch out. Stay tuned in to your boss and see where you can make things easier for them. Take opportunities to help other employees who are in a position to help you out. Always keep your work up to date and never fall behind on your daily duties if you are helping someone else. Making your boss think of you first when they need help puts you in a position of trust and value, and valued employees are the ones who hold n to their jobs and are promoted when the time is right.
