Pay A Traffic Ticket Online In Maryland

Pay a Traffic Ticket Online in Maryland

Whether you were running late for work in the morning or rushing home to watch the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football, chances are that you have been on the other side of the flashing patrol car lights one or two times for a traffic violation. In the event that you were not let go with a warning, you likely have to pay a fine for your traffic ticket. Maryland citizens have the ability to pay the traffic ticket online and put the event behind them.

Instructions

1. Visit the Maryland District Court's online payment site (see Resources). The website is managed by the LexisNexis Company's VitalChek Network division.

2. Read the rules to determine whether you are eligible to pay your traffic violation online. You are ineligible to pay your traffic fine online if you were ordered to appear in court or missed your scheduled court date.

3. Check the "I have read the information above" box. You will need to read the information above the box and check this before you can continue to the payment site.

4. Locate your traffic citation number. For handwritten citations, this is located at the top right of your ticket. If you received an electronic citation, this is located on the bottom portion of your citation.

5. Enter your traffic citation number in the box that reads "Payable Traffic Citation Number." Hit continue.

6. Enter your address, driver's license information and payment amount in the empty boxes. Hit "Continue."

7. Enter and submit your credit or debit card information to pay your traffic violation fine. To pay your traffic violation online, you need to use a credit or debit card. VitalChek does not accept online checks. The only approved cards are MasterCard, American Express, Visa or Discover.
