Counter.
After you publish your website, it is crucial that you track your website activity so you make improvements as needed and earn more traffic. For example, if you see that a particular page is being visited frequently, you know that the public is responding well to the content and you can duplicate the success on other pages. Using resources available on the web, measure your own web traffic to improve the performance.
Instructions
1. Access the "Google Analytics" website and click the "Access Analytics" button to create a free account. Follow the prompts to enter your URL address and generate the code that allows you to measure traffic on your site. Launch your text editor to open your website file(s), paste the code anywhere on the page(s) and place your file(s) on your Web host to make the tracker active. Log in to your analytics account and access the "Dashboard" section to review your detailed tracking reports, which include the number of visits per day and the average amount of time that visitors spend on your website. If you had a web hosting company design your pages, ask the designer to input this code for you, or ask her edit your page so that you can input this code as described.
2. Access the SeeHits.com site and click the "New Account" tab to register for a new account. Enter your website information in the provided text fields and choose to use the free hit counter tool that records your page view counts, daily and monthly statistics; or opt for the premium hit counter that offers detailed data like hourly traffic reports and unique visitor counts. Copy the generated code, paste it on your Web page(s) and then place the file(s) on your Web host to publish the counter. The premium counter tool is free for the first five days and after this trial is up, SeeHits.com begins billing you $19.99 for the next 12 months.
3. Access the Statbrain.com website and type in the URL address of your site or enter the address of another site. Click the "Check" button to view the number of hits per day for the website. Statbrain.com estimates web traffic by referencing the number of backlinks (incoming links) to the site and querying Alexa.com, which is a well-used search engine that gauges a site's performance.
