Design My Very Own Stationery

Give your letters a personalized look by designing your own stationery.

Designing your own stationery allows you to create items that are personalized to fit your specific needs. If you have ever been disappointed because commercial stationery was not the size or style you wanted, you may like being able to create your own stationery with items you may already have in your home. Designing your own stationery may also cost less than purchasing commercial stationery, and it gives you an opportunity to be creative. Although there are many ways to design stationery, creating items by hand is one way you may enjoy.

Instructions

Designing Paper and Envelopes

1. Choose a piece of paper that is the size, color and thickness you prefer.

2. Take a decorative corner or edge puncher, and punch out the corners or edges of your paper. These punchers are similar to a hole puncher and are used to create die-cut, embossed borders. Decorative punchers come in a variety of designs, styles and sizes.

3. Place the paper on a flat surface.

4. Select the rubber stamp you would like to use to create a design on the paper, then rub the stamp on an ink pad to ink it.

5. Press the rubber stamp on the paper where you want the design to appear, then set the paper aside. It's best to stamp the bottom or top of the paper to leave room for writing.

6. Choose an envelope that the paper fits inside of, and place it on the flat surface.

7. Rub the rubber stamp on the ink pad to ink it again, then press the rubber stamp on the back of the envelope. Use the same rubber stamp you used for the paper to create stationery with a theme.

8. Allow the ink on the paper and envelope to dry thoroughly before using them.

Designing Cards

9. Fold a large piece of poster board in half, and place it on a flat surface.

10. Choose a piece of solid color paper that is about 1 to 2 inches smaller on each side than the front of the poster board.

11. Add adhesive to the back of the solid color paper, and glue it, centered, on the front section of the poster board.

12. Select images or clip art you would like to use to decorate the card with.

13. Add adhesive to the back of each image, and stick them to the solid color paper.

14. Write a message or name on the front of the card, if desired. Add whatever text you prefer to the inside of the card.
