Weigh Copier Paper On The Scale

Even wonder how much that 20-lb. bond paper actually weighs? A typical 500-sheet ream should actually weigh in at about 5 lbs. The way paper is labeled can be quite confusing, so the easiest way to understand this is to see for yourself how much that ream of paper weighs. You'll want to remove it from the packaging to avoid any excess weight. This method of weighing copier paper on a scale is also useful for calculating how much it might cost to the ship the paper.

Instructions

1. Place a sheet of copier paper on your scale. If it extends over the edges of the scale's weighing pad, you will need a flat-bottomed container to hold the paper as you weigh it.

2. Place a flat-bottomed container large enough to hold your copier paper without bending or folding the paper.

3. Zero the scale out so that it reads a weight of 0 pounds when the empty container is sitting on it.

4. Place as much copier paper as you want to weigh on the container. The weight shown on the scale will be the weight of the copier paper.
