1. Write down the international number you are calling. If you do not have it, you can use the operator for this. To save money, look the number up at the library or online.
2. Punch "01" on your phone keypad.
3. Follow the "01" with the code of the country you are attempting to call.
4. Dial the city code within that country. For instance, the country code to Japan is "81" and the city code to Tokyo is "3."
5. Follow the city code with the number to the individual or business you are trying to contact. This connects you with the international operator. Keep in mind that operator-assisted calls are more expensive than ones you dial yourself. Contact your provider if you are not familiar with the rates.
