Get Directions Using The Phone Book

The Yellow Pages website offers maps and directions.

If you have access to the Internet, getting directions from the Yellow Pages website is a simple task. If you're relying on a printed copy of the Yellow Pages, you'll have to do a little more work to figure out where you're going. Many other websites and print directories offer maps, and it can be a good idea to check a couple of different sources because older maps might be out of date. Since the print edition of the Yellow Pages is updated every year, it should be relatively current.

Instructions

Online

1. Go to YellowPages.com.

2. Click on 'Maps & Directions', located on the right in the yellow box at the top of the page. This takes you to a new page showing the 'Map' option as a default.

3. Click on 'Directions', also located on the right in the yellow box at the top of the page.

4. Enter the address, intersection or city you are starting from, and your intended destination in the boxes provided and then click on 'Get Directions'.

5. Click on 'Print' above the map, and above the list of directions. Alternately, you can simply write down the essential information you need.

Using the Yellow Pages book

6. Flip to the maps section of the Yellow Pages.

7. Using the map index, search for the street you're starting from and the street you're heading to. The streets will be listed in alphabetical order and will have a grid letter and number beside them, such as 'A3'. If you're in a large city, there may be several maps for each area of the city. The index will tell you which map to look on.

8. Look at the section of the map indicated by the index. There will be numbers and letters running along the top, bottom and sides of the map so you can view it as a grid and find the sections with your starting street and destination street.

9. Use a pencil if you wish to trace a route between the two points.

10. Write down all the streets you will need to turn on, and which direction to turn with each one.
