Most nonprofit organizations accept donations.
Raising money for nonprofits is not as difficult as many people make it out to be. There is a lot of legwork involved, but the fact of the matter is, it's no different than fundraising for your favorite organization or school. There are several ideas that you can use as far as ways to raise money for nonprofits. Just remember that pursuing every avenue is not always necessary and can dilute the progress that you have made.
Instructions
1. Asking for a fee is acceptable when a service is provided.
Ask for a fee for the service that the nonprofit performs. It is not a charitable donation, but for a nonprofit organization that is starting up, it may be the quickest way to start earning money. The fee does not have to be large--just a little something to compensate for the materials or effort you have put in.
2. Research available grants and government monies that the nonprofit organization may qualify for. There are thousands of grants available for various things, and it may come down to having a specific person or program that can use the funding.
3. Ask for individual solicitations. Starting with the people within the organization, as well as their family, is a good place to start. They may not be able to donate much but every penny counts. It's a start--more than the nonprofit had before.
4. Go door to door. If the nonprofit is something that people believe in, local neighbors and businesses may be more than happy to help. Explain what the organization does and who it supports, then ask for a donation. It never hurts to ask.
5. Ask for donations. Many nonprofits thrive on donations of either money or items donated for use or auction. Donations have helped several organizations; in some cases, they have been able to make a profit for the organization through fundraisers.
