Send goods overseas by cargo ship.
When you want to ship materials from the United States to another country, there are only a couple of options to move the items. Regardless of how you chose to actually ship your materials overseas, know that doing so can be costly. Depending on the shipping method chosen, it can take up to four weeks for items to arrive at the destination port. This is especially true when you ship items by sea.
Instructions
1. Make a list or gather together everything planned for shipping overseas so that you will know how much stuff needs to go. This will help you to decide which shipping method best meets your needs.
2. Take the materials to the local post office to ship via air mail if you do not have a lot of items or if the items are lightweight. Options include shipping via an expedited carrier, such as FedEx or DHL. Get insurance to cover the value of the items before shipping.
3. Get quotes for sea-container shipping from an international shipping company if there are a lot of materials to ship or if the items are oversized or heavy. Ship everything from documents to cars in a sea-cargo container. Obtain a request form from a website offering quotes from multiple shipping companies. Contact the shipping company with the quote that most meets needs, such as lowest price and arrange for a ship date. Get the materials to the dock by that date so that the items can be loaded into the container and onto the ship.
