Advertise A Company On The Flyer

A promotional flyer is a cheap and effective way to advertise a business. Design and print businesses can create these flyers for you, but the most cost-effective way to make business flyers is to make them yourself and either send them out for printing, or print them in-house.

Instructions

1. Consider your target audience and what they will be looking for in a promotional flyer. Younger audiences might prefer pictures to words, as well as brighter colors. More mature audiences might prefer simpler colors and more information in words.

2. Include at least one photo that relates to your business. This could be a photo of the building in which the business is located, a group photo of your employees, or a photo of a satisfied customer next to a quote. If you use a customer picture, get their approval.

3. Determine the wording that will appear on the flyer. Use the computer to create a title or slogan which will appear at the top of the flyer. Write a short paragraph on the computer explaining what your business does, and how you can help prospective customers reach their goals. Don't include too many words, or the reader will lose interest. Keep the writing short, simple and snappy.

4. Decide on the layout and format of the flyer. Avoid cluttering the flyer with unnecessary information. The most important information to get on the flyer is your business name, logo and contact information. Play around with the layout on the computer until you are satisfied.

5. Print out the rough draft of your flyer and ask at least two employees to proofread it. Ask your proofreaders for input on how you could improve the flyer. It will help if they are also members of your target audience. Tell your proofreaders to look for spelling mistakes, typing errors and inconsistency. Inconsistency in advertising material usually consists of a lack of registration marks or trademarks, inconsistency of font style and size from piece to piece, and grammatical inconsistencies such as using a dash to separate two words in one place and the word "to" in another place. Use logos and fonts similarly from piece to piece for recognition so customers will know the flyer has come from your business.

6. Print as many flyers as you require once you have corrected any errors and removed or added any information. Print the flyers on card stock and laminate. You also can call around to local printers to see how much they charge, and send the flyers to them.

7. Distribute your flyers to local businesses, homes or places your target audience is likely to frequent.
