If you want to sell wholesale clothing that’s fashionable and functional you’ll need to have a tax identification number first.

1. Apply for a business license in your state as well as your tax identification number. This number exempts you from paying taxes on purchases you make for business related items. In addition most wholesalers, even those overseas in China won’t let you make purchases unless they have a copy of your tax identification number.
2. Use drop shippers if you plan to sell predominantly over the Internet. Drop shipping refers to a company that keeps a large number of items in a warehouse or store. You sell the items and they ship them for you. One of the biggest things they handle is great looking clothing.
3. Visit your local flea market and keep an eye out for those selling fashionable style clothing. When you see someone selling clothing you like, start up a conversation and ask for a little helpful advice. They may turn you down, but in some cases they may give you some information on finding clothing wholesalers.
4. Pick up a copy of the Wholesale White Pages. This book can usually be found at flea markets and swap meets and it contains a lot of information. It lists wholesalers in the US and in other countries like China as well as their contact information and what they sell.
5. Purchase a wholesale list online through classified ads or auction sites like eBay. These lists are extremely easy to find and like the Wholesale White Pages contain information relating to wholesalers. Just make sure you buy one relating to clothing and not something else like electronics.
