The Epson Stylus CX5800F is a multi-function all-in-one printer. The device prints, scans and faxes. A computer isn't required for the fax functionality. Faxes can be sent from speed dial, and you can customize the send-header and select various report and send/receive settings.
Instructions
1. Connect the Epson Stylus CX5800F to the phone line. Connect the phone cable coming from the wall to the port marked LINE on the printer. Connect the second phone cable to a telephone and then into the port marked EXT on the printer.
2. Create a fax header. Press the "Fax" button once and the device will enter Fax mode. The display will read "Enter Fax Number." Ignore this and press the "Setup" button. Press the "Up" or "Down" keys to reach Setup menu item six, which is labeled Header & Time on the display. Press "OK" twice to reach "Fax Header Set" on the display, and then use the numeric keys to enter up to 28 digits of header information. You can enter the letters A to Z using the same concept you would use to send a text on your mobile phone. Press "OK."
3. Set the time using the same concept. Use the "Up" or "Down" key to get to Date/Time, and enter the details. Press "OK" when you've finished.
4. Place your original document on the glass.
5. Press "Cancel/Back" a few times until you get to the top menu. Press "Fax."
6. Press the keys on the numeric keypad to enter the fax number.
7. Press the "Start B&W" button to send a fax. The device will scan your document and then the screen will prompt you to "Send Another Page"
8. Press "2" for no and "1" for yes. If you do want to send another page, press "1" and open the document cover and add another page. Press "OK" to scan the next page. When you have completed adding the pages, press "2" and the device will send the fax.
