Clean Pet Bottles

PET bottles are common items.

PET bottles are clear, lightweight bottles made of polyester that can be used to store things like drinks. They have a "1" on the bottom, indicating their recycling viability. Though PET bottles are approved for reuse, it's important to clean them between fillings. You don't want residue from one drink, for example, clinging to the bottle when you fill it with fresh liquid. Cleaning your PET bottles is a simple way to keep things clean and sanitary.

Instructions

1. Uncap the bottle and rinse it with fresh, clean water.

2. Soak the bottle in the sink with hot water and soap for five minutes. Using a toothbrush to scrub the neck and sides of the bottle with the soap.

3. Submerge the bottle in clean water to get most of the suds off. Once you've finished, hold it under running water until all the suds are gone and it appears clean.

4. Place the bottle in the dishwasher and run the dishwasher to sanitize, if you've kept something with toxic chemicals in the bottle.

5. Allow the bottle to air dry completely before filling it with another liquid.
