Instructions

1. Write down what happened in your dreams as soon as you wake up. Oftentimes, we forget our dreams shortly after rising. If you write your dreams down immediately, you'll be better able to interpret them.

2. Assess the type of dream you had. The Bible gives examples of many different types of dreams such as prophetic dreams and false dreams.

3. Record any symbols that appeared in the dream. Almost any object or person can symbolize something else in a dream. For example, a bridge may symbolize a tough decision in your life. You are deciding whether to cross the bridge or turn back to the way you came. It can represent great change.

4. Determine if you had a prophetic dream. In the Bible, God often spoke to Joseph through prophetic dreams. You may not initially understand the meaning of a prophetic dream. Pray and mediate on it as you may experience a revelation.

5. Decide if your dream may be a warning dream. Biblically, God used dreams to warn people of impending trouble. If you feel your dream contained a warning from God, take it into account and change your actions accordingly to avoid misfortune. In the Bible, these warning dreams are great blessings as God saved His people from doom.

6. Consider that your dream may not carry a message from God. Sometimes our dreams are simply caused by our daily business. You may dream about things you did that day, simply because they are on your mind. Every dream does not hold a prophetic message or warning.

7. Pray about your dreams. If you are confused about a dream, ask God for guidance. Sometimes you may find greater understanding over time.
