Ebay, your local newspaper and many Web sites charge a fee to place a "for sale" ad, "job wanted" ad or any other kind of ad. However, there are some Web sites that allow you to place an ad for free. While there may be many sites out there (bestwayclassified.com, freeadpost.com), Craigslist is the most popular and most visited, which means your ad will be seen by more local people. Posting most ads on Craigslist is free. It takes only minutes to have your ad up and visible to anyone.
Instructions
1. Visit the Web site craigslist.com. Select your city or the closest major city to you from the list on the screen. You can also click on your state. Only do this if your city has not already been automatically chosen.
2. In the upper-left corner of the screen, click on "post to classifieds." Select the category for the ad you'd like to post. Depending on the category you choose, you may have to make another, more specific selection on the next screen.
3. Fill out the form with the title of your ad, the price (if necessary) and any other information you'd like to include. Give specific and detailed information about your posting to better assist a potential buyer. Do not include your full name or home address, as there may be scammers on Craigslist. Add any images to your ad to increase viewers to your ad.
4. Click "continue" to review the Web site policies and continue to post your ad. Follow the instructions regarding confirming your ad post by checking for a link in your email.
5. Check your email daily for any responses to your ad.
