Weight problems Prevention Grants or loans Open To Schools

Help America's youth tip the scales back in the right direction

Grants aiming to reverse America’s obesity epidemic are encouraging better eating and more activity. Because children eat one to two meals a day in schools--and also may purchase snacks and beverages from food carts or vending machines--schools are a core area of focus for grant makers focused on obesity prevention. However, grant makers also are aware of the benefits of community-based programs promoting active lifestyles and nutritious eating, and they target these programs as well.

Finishline Youth Foundation Grants

The Finishline Youth Foundation supports youth athletic programs. Programs, projects and scholarship funding are available; in addition, the foundation may directly provide support for equipment and small capital projects. Direct service projects are encouraged; grant recipients will be chosen on the basis of the project’s potential impact and number of lives changed, the presence of co-funding, and proximity to Finish Line stores. Grants range from $1,000 to $5,000, and deadlines are September 30 and December 31.
