Create My Very Own Personal Stationary

Writing a quick note is a great way to stay in touch with family and friends.

In the Internet generation, everyone seems to be sending emails more than actual letters. A simple letter in the mail adds a personal touch that an email can not. Personalized stationary adds a little pizazz to a letter. You do not have to spend a bundle creating your own stationary. By creating your stationary at home, you not only save money, you also get to exercise your creativity. Your friends and family will enjoy getting a letter from you on paper you created.

Instructions

1. Decide what paper you will be using for your stationery. Keep in mind that if you use colored paper, some printer ink colors will not show up as well. Also, decide how heavy you would like the paper to be. Another thing to think about when choosing a paper is how it will absorb the printer ink. If you choose paper that is not standard size, be sure to change accordingly under the page layout tab.

2. Open Microsoft Word. First decide on a border for your stationery. Go to the page layout tab and then click on page borders, which is in the page background box. Pick a border. You can choose how thick you want the lines to be and whether or not you want to include border art.

3. Add text or images to your header and footer to give your stationery a personal touch. Click on 'insert tab' and then the header and footer boxes. Add what you would like to each box. This can include your contact information.

4. For background color, click on the 'page layout tab' and then go to the background box and choose page color. Add as many colors as you want to your paper. To select background images click the 'fill effects' box. This box will be visible after you have clicked the background box under the page layout tab. Then choose from the various patterns they offer.

5. Go to the font box to change the style and size. When choosing a font, keep in mind that the color should complement the background your choice earlier. Sample different fonts until you get the right size and style your paper. Once you have found the right choice, select 'print preview under the 'print' tab. If everything appears in order, print a sample. If the sample page is correct, continue printing your stationery. Be sure to save your personalized stationery document for future use.
